Even more people are eligible for a tax credit when buying a home, now. First time New Hampshire and Maine homebuyers are eligible for up to an $8,500 tax credit. Homebuyers who've owned their current home for more than 5 years can now sell, buy another home, and qualify for up to a $6,500 tax credit! To qualify for the tax credit, a written binding contract to purchase must be in effect by April 30, 2010, the purchaser will have until July 1, 2010 to close.
